Why did you choose the Statkraft International Trainee Programme?
I decided to study mechanical engineering because I love math and I saw it as a great opportunity to enter industries that have a positive impact on the world. In the Statkraft International Trainee Programme I can work with renewable energy and learn about completely different things in a short time – and to travel the world.
With the trainee program, we become like a class that starts together. We have already become good friends and it’s a strength to always have the group to talk to.
Tell us about your trainee experience so far!
My home base as a trainee is at Data Acqusition, where we work to acquire data from our power plants that can be used for, among other things, analysis for maintenance purposes.
Then I spent four months in beautiful Gaupne, Norway. There I worked two days a week at the hydro power plants that was being upgraded. Very cool! The other three days I worked at the regional center where I worked shifts to plan the production for the next day for each of the hydro power plants in the region. I also experienced lots of other really fun things, such as flying in a helicopter to the mountains with our skis to measure the snow depth before the spring snow melt.
My current rotation is in the wind development team in Milan, Italy, where I get to see a whole different side of Statkraft – all the way from the very early phase of projects. My next rotation will be in Brazil, where I’ll work with more technical topics, probably more related to my home unit.
What is your favorite part of the programme?
I get to see so many different perspectives and I can take part in so many ways of working. It’s very stimulating to learn how other people and teams work. I have realized that I am strongly driven by making connections with people around me. I want to create a genuine team feeling and achieve goals together. That's what really inspires me.
